Some people say great things happen when you least expect it. Well last night was a perfect example of that – It was way too late to be blogging, I’d been working for about 17 hours and time for bed… How is it then that in that hazy frame of mind I managed to stumble across such an incredible discovery? Yep, last night at around 3am I was emailed a copy of the new album by Austin’s Will Patterson in the form of Sleep Good. Now usually I would have left this till morning but something urged me to give it a quick listen. An hour later I’d listened to the whole album and ended up in a state of absolute bewilderment. This dude is just 21 and has already made a bazzilion records… this latest effort though is very special indeed. Just listen to tracks like Water Voices, Diamante, Schlitterbahn and Paper Bird and you’ll see what I’m talking about. It’s a perfect summer record, effortlessly charming, jammed packed with glistening little pop songs and really rather good.
The album is called Skyclimber and is available digitally over here with CD & vinyl formats available from 24th August. Rumour has it there’s even going to be a VHS version and a video game version available soon too…
